My Paleo Journey- recap of 2015 IMW Spring Challenge

I know, I know. The Challenge was 2 months ago and I finally put together a recap post. Well that's just how it goes. Sometimes, I like things to settle in for a while and reflect back. At times we can be too close to the situation to not really see things as clearly. So..... Here are some overall thoughts related to "My Paleo Journey" over the years, reinforced by the 2015 IMW Spring Challenge.

My Paleo Journey

What have I learned from being Paleo?

First:

"We eat too much, too often, at the wrong times and the wrong things."

When you are...

Day 26 2015 IMW Spring Challenge

"Vegetables are interesting but lack a sense of purpose when unaccompanied by a good cut of meat."----Fran Lebowitz

About 2 months ago, I wrote to everyone about a little experiment I did that pushed me to challenge myself and you! Here is what I wrote back in March.

 Prelude to a Challenge
Do not try this at home! About a month ago I decided to perform a little N=1 experiment. The "N" stands for how many people in the experiment. The "1" was me! The idea came from a health blogger Jimmy Moore who also coauthored the books Cholesterol Clarity and Read moreNo comments

Day 24 2015 IMW Spring Challenge

"Have you read any good books lately?"-- Unknown and everyone

I remember way back in medical school. I needed to read a tremendous amount. There was lots to learn. What is funny is that I probably still read just as much as I did in medical school, only now I read about health issues that mean a lot to me and that help me to help you.

I rarely if ever go back to my old med school textbooks. That would be like going back to watching television on a black n white screen with an antenna on your roof. I prefer to read what...

Day 22 2015 IMW Spring Challenge

“I think the biggest difference is that I’m a nicer person to be around.”-- Steve Kirsch

Today we have another guest poster. I would like to now introduce Steve Kirsch.

Steve Kirsch is a lawyer by day and a drummer by night. His whole life changed for the better when he started eating "real food" instead of processed food full of grains and sugars.
He blogs about all that at The Paleo Drummer blog: http://www.thepaleodrummer.com/

and Twitter: https://twitter.com/thepaleodrummer

What makes you "Hangry"?

The other night I mentioned to my wife that Dr. Horvitz...

Can diet reverse and/or treat Diabetes and Cancer?

It's time for me to show you a few medical studies about Low Carb/Paleo diet and lifestyle and why they are healthy for you. Diabetes Type 1 diabetes mellitus successfully managed with the paleolithic ketogenic diet This study, which was only with one test subject, so not exactly proof it will work for others until tested with more subjects, put an Insulin Dependent Diabetic on a Paleo and Ketogenic diet for 6 months. Ketogenic diets are like lower carbohydrate diets but they take the carbs lower and the fat higher. Something interesting, but to me not unexpected occurred. Not only did the subjects sugar levels...

So out to the boardwalk and then to the outlets. Probably did easily another 1-2 miles of walking. At 130pm I decided that since it is a bit over an hour drive home and that we still...

DrH Food Diary Day 2

Tuesday April 9th, 2013 Wow! I am still always amazed how well I sleep when I take Vitamin D before bedtime. I realize it does not work for everyone, but what a difference for me. Asleep at midnight, lots of dreams, and awoke at 630am to sunshine and feeling well rested. Maybe that can also be from eating less yesterday? Will have to keep that in mind. Last night I did have a dessert. Fresh strawberries and raspberries topped with a little whipped cream and two teaspoons of cinnamon swirl Paleo Krunch. Yum Yum, and its Paleoish too!! Exercised for 10 minutes this morning. Non-stop mostly legs with a small amount...
