How many years have you heard all the talking heads and probably most doctors, ( I am not like most doctors), tell you fat was evil?

The evilest fat of them all, “Saturated Fat”!!!

Can you hear the eerie music playing when the words “Saturated Fat” are spoken? Ok, probably not but I think you get my point.

We have been told by all the talking heads to avoid saturated fats and replace them with polyunsaturated fats, the fats that are found in most vegetable oils. Somehow these polyunsaturated fats are healthier for us to eat because they come from vegetables??

Well guess what?

The talking heads were wrong!!!

Did not surprise me. The only thing I share with the “talking heads” is my “bald head”! And the thinking brain inside my bald head knew that the past data claiming “saturated fats are bad for us” just did not jibe with me.

Advice to substitute polyunsaturated fats for saturated fats is a key component of worldwide dietary guidelines for coronary heart disease risk reduction. However, clinical benefits of the most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acid, omega 6 linoleic acid, have not been established. In this cohort, substituting dietary linoleic acid in place of saturated fats increased the rates of death from all causes, coronary heart disease, and cardiovascular disease. An updated meta-analysis of linoleic acid intervention trials showed no evidence of cardiovascular benefit. These findings could have important implications for worldwide dietary advice to substitute omega 6 linoleic acid, or polyunsaturated fats in general, for saturated fats.

So not only was the advice wrong, but the advice increased ALL-CAUSE death rates as well as heart disease. So vegetable oils, polyunsaturated fats harm more than just our cardiovascular system. They increase our cellular inflammation. Inflammation is not good!!!

Now please hear this from your bald headed doc.

Butter is better than soybean or corn oil, and probably all the fake industrialized vegetable oils that have been passed off to us as healthy.

I am going to scream now!

EAT BUTTER!

THROW OUT ALL YOUR MARGARINES!

THROW OUT ALL YOUR PROCESSED INDUSTRIALIZED VEGETABLE AND SEED OILS.

I am glad I got that off my chest!

What else should you take from this article?

Stop listening to the talking heads. They just parrot whatever “the powers that pay those that be” want them to say. There are huge mega food industries that rely on you buying their processed foods. Guess what fat is in those processed foods? Industrialized processed polyunsaturated fats!!! Their advertising most likely pays the salaries of the talking heads.

Stay away from processed foods and processed fats.

Eat natural fats that our grandparents and great grand parents ate. Some of my favorite fats for health are found in fresh wild caught fish, grass fed meat, free range farmers eggs, butter, cheese from grass fed cows, olive oil, coconut oil and avocados.

So do not fear natural fats. They are actually very healthy for you!

If you want your fat content checked, the IMW does offer the Omega-3 Index Test. This test measures your Red Blood Cell membrane fat content including saturated, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, trans-fats, omega-3 fats and Omega-6 fats. It is a good indicator of cellular inflammation.

On that note I am going to go prepare my families dinner for this evening. Grass fed steak with roasted potatoes/peppers, creamed spinach with a salad on the side. Fats used in cooking the meal include the natural fats found in the meat, butter, olive oil, and heavy cream.

I could go on and on but I think I made my point. The talking heads believe the debate about fat is over. Sorry but the truth always comes out eventually and natural fats are needed and make the body work!! So go enjoy them!!!

    Many thanks for declaring as an informed professional what I believe is common sense regarding a natural and balanced approach to eating. I have felt all along that whole foods, flavored with butter and olive oil were the acceptable norm——too bad the talking heads talk sooooooo loud!

    Thanks a heap! I have felt all along that these natural foods in their most basic origin are what God intended for us to consume. I am, however, on a lower sodium diet since blood pressure is a problem (happily under control I might add).

    Love,love, love it!! Yeah for the bald-headed doc! Very timely message, as we just ate liver(from grass-fed cows), salad, asparagus, and our daily dose of coconut oil. I wonder if this study will have any serious impact on CMW. I will not be surprised if it is ignored, or just swept under the rug. CBN has had some amazing health stories lately on this very topic. Their health reporter really gets it.
